Heating & Cooling Service in Valdese, NC
Waldensian heritage homes — brick walls hold heat differently; we know the difference.
Valdese is a unique Burke County town with deep roots in its Waldensian heritage, founded by Italian immigrants in the 1890s. The town has a distinctive character with stone and brick homes in the older sections near downtown, mid-century neighborhoods along Eldred Street, and newer development along the Lovelady Road corridor. At about 25 minutes from our shop, Valdese is well within our standard service area, and we have been maintaining and installing HVAC systems here for over two decades.

HVAC Service Built for Valdese
Valdese's older stone and brick construction presents specific HVAC challenges. These materials are excellent at holding heat in summer but can make homes stuffy without proper ventilation. Conversely, the thermal mass of brick helps retain warmth in winter, which means Valdese homes with good insulation and properly sized systems can be very efficient to heat. We also serve the McGalliard Falls area, where homes near the creek tend to have higher humidity levels that can strain air conditioning systems and promote mold growth if the system is not properly managing indoor humidity.

Why Valdese Homeowners Choose Starnes
Valdese values its heritage of self-reliance and craftsmanship, and that resonates with how we run our business. They came out the same day, diagnosed the issue quickly, and had everything fixed at a fair price — no upsell nonsense. The technician was professional, friendly, and explained how everything works. Highly recommend!”

“The Starnes team installed the original HVAC system in our home. We chose Starnes again for a new basement unit based on the quality of their first job. The team was professional, added new ductwork, maintained our existing unit, and upgraded our thermostat. We are very satisfied.”

“Starnes Heating & Air replaced both of my units in 2022. When the upstairs unit stopped working on a weekend, they sent a technician promptly. Isaac found a clogged condensation line, cleaned it out, and checked the other unit to make sure its line was clear too. Outstanding customer service from the office call to the service call!”
